On Valentines day, I went to a Merc spawning/Merc raid as part of a test group for a new raidbot named Mercstream.

I have discussed my impressions of this raidbot with Gables and also with Foxy and Monkeyfunk.

Overall, the spawning went well.. we OD a group of omni that was trying to spawn Ota, and the omnis eventually left the spawn, so Clan got all 5 mercs. Some of the testers left shortly after the raid started.. and some left after Ian, but many stayed and no Omni showed again.

The raid itself started out rather dicey, as Ninj00 pulled all 5 mercs, and Ian Warr went into the water of the moat. Someone quipped in the Mercstream channel "Its like herding chickens" at the start of the raid.

After a quick zone west, the raid re-assembled, and took out Ian, Peter, Patricia, Nelly and Ris in a couple of hours. There was a flat roll raffle, with winners not prevented from re-entering for loot. For the first couple of attempts, the raffle for Ian's stuff did not work, but eventually, the raffle started working.

Pulls seemed quick, with not all the items being raffled before the next merc was pulled. During one of these quick pulls, I was buffing, and not shooting.. so someone reported me for leeching, and I was booted from the bot, and got no points.. The strange thing to me was that I still entered the raffle, and won azure pants and azure gloves. Seems to me like there needs to be some work on this bot before its ready for prime time, but Simplfix did a good job for the most part.

I talked to Simplfix afterwards, and discussed what she said with Gables.. sounded to me like some political discussion might take place. I am here for fun, and the new bot might be rather strict.. just my opinion.

Hi Hellraiser77,

Here is one definition of a raidbot:

http://ao.stratics.com/content/guides/g ... idbots.php

I think of them as programs designed to help accomplish a task , such as fighting and beating an npc that needs more than one team of players to take down in player vs. monster (PVM), or to help in Notum Wars tower or tarasque raids, where player vs. player (PVP) is involved.
